King Kenry VIII's 500th anniversary Tudor Celebrations thi weekend July 18 - 19

 

Henry VIII's 500 yrs since her came to the throne

A special event to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Henry VIII's accession to the throne.

Join us as the Knights of Royal England return for the first of the annual jousting tournaments.  There will also be have-a-go archery, costumed dancers, minstrels and a children's competition for the best dressed  princess and knight. 

Enjoy a delicious Hog Roast* or try some ale from the  Ale Tent* the perfect way to spend a summer's day!

Timetable of events

The King and Queen will arrive from the castle at 2pm and will then progress to the events field where the jousting tournament will be held. 

Children are invited to dress up as knights and princesses and parade in the arena for the best dressed which will be judged by the King and Queen at the start of the tournament.

The 'Companye of Strangers' will start at 12 noon on the castle forecourt where there will be five half hour shows throughout the days finishing at 5pm.

Have-a-Go Archery will be taking place  between 12 noon at 4.30pm on a first come basis.

*There will be a charge for the hog roast and ale.
