Stroll amongst the Snowdrops on Mothering Sunday
14th March 2010
MOTHER’S DAY presents the perfect opportunity to take a leisurely Sunday stroll around the beautiful gardens at Hever Castle - and after walking up an appetite, treat Mum to a meal from the new Spring menu. The Moat Restaurant is laying on a scrumptious champagne afternoon tea with cakes, scones, jam and clotted cream, or for something more substantial there’s a tasty traditional Sunday roast dinner.
Ambling along Topiary Walk and admiring Anne Boleyn’s Orchard, visitors will be treated to views of a glorious carpet of daffodils and bursts of candy-coloured spring blossom overhead. Pockets of crocus and snowdrops will be peppered throughout the grounds and along the banks of the moat.
There are four acres of award-winning formal gardens to explore, from the giant topiary chess set of the Tudor Garden to the magnificent Pompeiian Wall in the Italian Garden, where visitors can enjoy rambling trails of camellias, glimpse a sight of the first colourful tulips and take in the last of the beautiful winter violas.
