Winner of Gardeners' World Magazine Most Romantic Garden in the South East 2010
Readers of Gardeners’ World have voted Hever Castle gardens as the most romantic garden in the South East of England.
Some 4,500 Gardeners’ World magazine readers and www.gardenersworld.com web users voted for their favourite gardens for each UK region.
Duncan Leslie, Chief Executive of Hever Castle said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded the accolade of most romantic garden in the South East. We are also the only garden in Kent to be nominated in the Gardeners’ World readers’ poll which is testament to the hard work and dedication of our team of gardeners at the castle.
It is especially apt to be named the most romantic garden in the South East as Hever Castle was once the backdrop to a royal courtship between Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII. Nowadays of course, the gardens are often used as the romantic setting for weddings throughout the summer months.”
Hever Castle boasts four acres of formal gardens, including a magnificent Pompeiian wall in the Italian gardens, celebrated Rose and Tudor gardens, a yew maze measuring 80 feet square and a majestic loggia overlooking a 38 acre boating lake.
