Hever Castle Golf Course in Kent has been named the best 9 hole golf course in the south east in a national magazine.
Today’s Golfer said Hever was its must play course in a feature about 9 hole golf courses in the south east.
Other 9 hole golf courses in the south east to have been mentioned include Hoebridge in Surrey for its easy access and Northwick Park in Middlesex for its replica holes.
Datchet in Berkshire, Reigate Heath in Surrey, Leckford in Hampshire and Wycombe Heights in Buckinghamshire were also included in the article.
The piece appears in the September issue of Today’s Golfer Magazine which is one of the top three national golf magazine in the UK with a readership of almost 40,000 copies per issue.
The Princes nine hole course at Hever Castle as a wonderful layout and has been built to the highest specification. Although shorter in length from the Championship Course it provides a good test of golf, where accuracy is important, especially on the par 3 3rd and 6th, both played over picturesque lakes.

It was in the 1920s that golf first featured on the Hever Castle estate when a private 9 hole course was built for William Waldorf Astor’s personal enjoyment in the grounds where today’s Championship Course lies north of the Hever lake. The golf course proved a valuable tool for the Astors to entertain friends, family and for business.
The original course survived until the Second World War when it was sadly abandoned during the War effort. The present day Championship Course was created in 1992 and the Princes 9 Hole Course opened in 1998.
