During lockdown Hever Castle Golf Club has some Greenkeepers on working on the course at Hever Castle Golf & Wellbeing to maintain the greens and fairways of its 27 hole golf course.
In these short videos, Head Greenkeeper Rob Peers takes the opportunity to provide a golf course update during lockdown and inform of the work that he and his small team have been doing to prepare for the return of the golfers when that time comes.
Long-serving employee Rob Peers took up the post of Head Greenkeeper following a promotion in May 2017. Rob says that “The commitment from the Greenkeepers has never been stronger; we have a small but great team out on the course that really wants the best for the club and its members.”
In the four minute video from April, Rob outlines the work that is underway and his priorities during this time. He explains that due to difficulties with supply lines and logistics that they are having to do things differently. Rob goes on to outline the importance to the greenkeepers of getting a “heads up” before the course is reopened after government restrictions are lifted. He also talks about the joy of seeing grass snakes sunbathing on the fairways in the absence of so much machinery!
In May’s video, he talks about how they’re working to government guidelines with a robust plan to ensure that the courses are ready for when the club is permitted to re-open.
