Hever Castle gin is now available to visitors and guests, created by Silent Pool Distillers.

Surrey-based Silent Pool has been stocked in the Hever Shop and in the Hever Castle Bed & Breakfast for some time and their signature gin is one of the bestselling in the shop.

So Ashley Collins, Head of Retail decided to approach the award winning distiller with a view to creating a unique Hever Castle gin blend to sell exclusively on the estate.

Having sampled four different mixes provided by Silent Pool, the winner was chosen.

Ashley said “We selected an English garden flavour; a light, floral gin, reminiscent of the great British countryside. It fits very well with Hever Castle.”

The Hever Castle gin contains local lavender, rose and chamomile flowers combined with a rich bergamot orange.

The label for the gin bottle was designed by Caz Pagden, Hever Castle’s creativity and design co-ordinator to fit in with Silent Pool’s brand.

The design was inspired by Hever in Bloom and took over eight hours to create, with each flower hand drawn.

The gin is on sale in the shop with a 50cl bottle costing £32 as well as the the online shop.

Guests staying at the Hever Castle bed and breakfast will have a chance to buy the Hever Castle gin from the bar when it reopens on Monday 17 May and golfers and visitors will be able to sample it at The Waterside Bar, Restaurant & Terrace at Hever Castle Golf & Wellbeing.

Wedding guests and those attended corporate hospitality functions will also be able to try the tipple at events on the estate.

Miniature bottles of Hever Castle gin will be a possibility for the future and Ashley is hoping to do tastings when it is safe to do so.

And this might not be the only Hever Castle gin as Ashley is planning a winter gin, in time for Christmas with a spiced pepper flavour.

The Hever Shop stocks a wide variety of local food and drink from Kent, Surrey and Sussex as well as unique mementos and gifts inspired by Hever Castle.
