How to Stay Cool during your visit to Hever Castle

September 04 2023 | What's on

As the hot weather continues across the UK we are all looking for ways to stay cool.

If you are planning a visit to Hever Castle there are plenty of shady picnic spots and we have lots of ideas to keep the whole family from the kids to the dogs hydrated and refreshed:

Food and drink:

Choose from the myriad of tempting Solley’s ice cream flavours from traditional chocolate and vanilla to raspberry Eton mess at one of our many kiosks across the site. The perfect way to stay cool on a hot day!

Both cafes have water bottle filling stations and there are taps around the grounds too. Refillable bottles can be purchased in the Hever Shop.

Picnic spots and shady walks:

Bringing a picnic and wondering the best place to lay your blanket and ensure everyone stays cool? We recommend underneath the copper beech on Horseshoe Lawn or underneath one of the many trees lining Anne Boleyn’s Walk.

Shady places for a stroll include the Fern Bank that runs under the Golden Stairs and Sunday Walk. Or head out to the Japanese Tea House overlooking the lake for a cool spot with a spectacular view or to Woodland Walk for a saunter under the canopy of the trees.

Grottos:

The grottos on Pergola Walk are a much-loved feature of the Italian Garden. With the gentle trickle of water over the moss-covered rocks, a stroll along the water feature is one of the most tranquil and cool places to be in the gardens.

Hever Shop:

Visit the air conditioned Hever Shop to stay cool and browse the range of gifts and local produce.

Dogs:

Drinking bowls for dogs are located at the Moat and Pavilion Restaurants.

Water Maze:

Perfect for kids and adults, you’re guaranteed to get wet!
