Dazzling colours throughout Hever Castle Gardens and grounds make it a must-visit venue this autumn. As the gardens turn vibrant shades of red, pink and gold and the leaves tumble from the trees, it’s the perfect time to head to the romantic castle in Kent for autumn walks with the family.
On your autumn walks you will be treated to a glorious display of colour from the mature trees in the parkland and around the lake where their reflections add to the beauty. The soft rays from the sun and stunning light also make it a great time of year for photographers and artists.
Autumn is the season in which Hever’s striking trees planted by William Waldorf Astor at the turn of the 20th century come to the fore. Rich yellow, red and orange leaves of beech mingle with liquidambars, tulip trees and Japanese maples, all contributing to an explosion of colour. The Italian Gardens contain a profusion of autumn bedding, while the front of the medieval Castle is cloaked in bright red Boston ivy.
It’s the season to enjoy the crunch of leaves underfoot, early morning mists and mellow fruitfulness. So pack your walking shoes and head to Hever for autumn walks to remember.
