Local contractors work at Hever Castle Golf Club

A team of local contractors have been working on the new Hever Castle Health & Wellbeing and The Waterside Bar, Restaurant & Terrace which had its official opening today (Friday 28 June).

Peter Guthrie, one of the owners of Hever Castle planted an Acer tree at Hever Castle Golf Club (one mile from the Castle & Gardens entrance) to mark the opening of the two new areas.

The new dining area at Hever Golf & Wellbeing looks out onto a scenic pond and fountain, from a decked area for 50 people as well as soft seating for around 20.

The Waterside restaurant complements the new Wellbeing Centre at Hever Castle Golf Club which opened in April, operated by Hever Health Ltd. The centre includes five treatment rooms offering osteopathy, physiotherapy, beauty and massage as well as a range of yoga, pilates and paraciseTM classes. Scented shrubs and soft lighting carries the wellbeing theme into the garden area.

Former Hever Castle gardeners Ian Roots and Catherine Pooley have been behind the transformation of The Waterside with Ian’s Wrotham-based company Roots Landscaping & Gardening.

Ian has 20 years of experience in the landscaping industry with 13 years as a gardener at Hever Castle and Catherine achieved her RHS diploma during her employment with Hever Castle.

Another of the local contractors working at Hever Castle Golf Club are Hever-based Proco who were behind the building works for the Wellbeing Centre. The company converted a room upstairs into five treatment rooms with a small waiting area. The design was chosen to modernise the area while retaining the original features. The beams received specialised paint effects to lighten their impact.

The company is owned by Tim Tisdall who has been a member of Hever Castle Golf Club for 12 years.

Other local contractors working at Hever Castle Golf Club were:

Olympic Signs, based in Tunbridge Wells produced all the new signage for Hever Castle Golf & Wellbeing, including the striking bronze main entrance signs.

It took a lengthy period in design, nonetheless, the result Olympic Signs and the Hever team achieved is a wonderful signage scheme. It looks outstanding sitting extremely well within its historical surroundings, with the copper features mirroring architectural detailing from Hever Castle.

It was a huge pleasure and privilege being involved with this project from concept to conclusion.

The Waterside Restaurant, Terrace and the Health & Wellbeing Centre are now above and beyond anything locally and are now destinations in their own right.
