Hever Castle’s five star gold luxury bed and breakfast is celebrating five years since opening its doors to the public.
Sales Manager, Kate Rowbottom, said: “we pride ourselves on delivering an exceptional standard of service and comfort, and are delighted to have welcomed guests from around the world over the past five years.”
The bed and breakfast is housed in the ‘Tudor Village’ – an Edwardian extension to the Castle which consists of the ‘Astor Wing’ and recently refurbished ‘Anne Boleyn Wing.’
Originally built by William Waldorf Astor at the turn of the 20th century to accommodate his family and guests, the Tudor Village has a long tradition of providing comfort and luxury to visitors of the Castle.
Among the famous guests who have stayed are Arthur Conan Doyle, Neil Armstrong, Winston Churchill, Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly.
Since the Hever Castle Estate was purchased by Broadland Properties Ltd. in 1983, the Tudor Village was repurposed to provide accommodation exclusively available to hire for wedding parties and for corporate events.
With increasing demand for high quality accommodation near to the Castle, it was a natural progression to open to the public on days when the bedrooms were not booked for private functions. In readiness, underfloor heating, flat screen TVs and wifi were added as part of a wide-scale refurbishment.
Hever Castle luxury bed and breakfast first opened its doors in March 2012.
Inspiration for the names of the rooms in the Astor Wing were drawn from the plants and flowers grown on the Estate, with an apple motif influencing the names of the Anne Boleyn Wing where the rooms overlook Anne Boleyn’s Orchard.
All bedrooms are en-suite and individually styled, with some offering four poster beds, roll top baths or walk in showers. All rooms blend modern day comforts with antique furnishings and original features.
Guests to the luxury bed and breakfast, which recently received the TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence for the fourth year running, have exclusive access to some areas of the 125 acre award winning gardens when they are closed to the general public. Access to the Castle tennis courts are also available as part of a stay.
Earlier this year the courtyard in the Astor Wing was transformed into a picturesque walled garden featuring wildflowers and a fountain created from one of Astor’s ornamental well heads. This oasis provides guests with a lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink or read a book.
Situated in the heart of the Kent countryside, Hever Castle Bed and Breakfast is rated ‘five star gold’ and features 28 luxury boutique bedrooms.
Throughout the year dine and stay events are on offer giving guests a chance to enjoy a dining experience as part of their stay.
Since opening to the public five years ago there have been more than 15,000 stays at the bed and breakfast.
