Meet pilates teacher Jenny Russell

January 09 2020 | Golf

Meet Jenny Russell Physiotherapist, Pilates Teacher, Franklin Method Teacher, Mindfulness Teacher and Cranio Sacral Therapist.

Pilates teacher Jenny has been working as a physiotherapist since 1978.

To enhance her physiotherapy practice she trained in Pilates for rehabilitation with Mat work and Pilates equipment. Pilates is an holistic discipline working with the whole mind body system. Jenny is passionate about the level of wellbeing that can be achieved when we engage all our senses and become present in our bodies. This prompted Jenny to train in The Franklin Method, Mindfulness and Biodynamic Cranio Sacral Therapy. Jenny’s physiotherapy sessions and Pilates sessions and classes draw on all these disciplines to help improve focus, breath, strength, flexibility and concentration.

Pilates teacher Jenny takes 1:1 sessions on a Monday and Thursday and classes on a Wednesday and Friday morning at Hever Castle Golf and Wellbeing

She will be offering an 8 week mindfulness based stress reduction course in 2020.Her classes are suitable for all ages and she even has two people in their 80s.

Jenny says: “In physio you treat a lot of people with back problems. Pilates and mindfulness address all the problems you see in physio. It brings everything into alignment and improves your posture. The big thing is that we are always rushing so you get more and more tense, get stiffer and harder to move.”

Pilates teacher Jenny says the exercise is particularly good for golfers: “Pilates helps with rotation. You get improved mobility in hips and thoracic spine that will help with swing.”

The Wellbeing Centre opened in April 2019 and offers a range of classes such as pilates, yoga and Paracise™ and treatments including physiotherapy, massage and beauty therapy. Find out more here.
