Halfway Through The Jousting Tournament Sir Jasper Is On Top

Seasoned jouster Sir Jasper currently heads up the leader board in Hever Castle’s summer jousting tournament. Sitting on 148 points, Sir Jasper is 24 points clear of nearest rival Sir Sam of Hever who has amassed 124 points to date. Sir Stephen of Porlock is third in the contest with 116 points, with Lord Ashley of Hampshire lagging behind on a woeful 88 points, hampered by an injury that kept him out of the first weekend of jousting.

With talk of jousting becoming an Olympic sport, the public’s interest has been piqued and crowds have flocked to see the gallant knights fight it out, awing with their sporting prowess and entertaining with their theatrics.

The weekend of 30/31 July saw the English knights take on the Scots in the International Joust. National pride was at stake all round and both teams took the contest very seriously. The English won on Saturday with the Scottish taking the honours on Sunday.

Hever Castle’s jousting tournament continues on August 13/14, 20/21, and 26 with jousting also taking place across the bank holiday weekend, 27-29 August, as part of the Tudor Living event. Keep up to date with the latest scores on the jousting scoreboard and find out more information on upcoming jousting events on the What’s On page.
