Have you ever looked around the grounds, admired the gardeners at work and thought, ‘I’d love to do that’? Well, there are many ways in which you can volunteer at Hever Castle and Gardens.

Grace and Zazil have just recently begun volunteering in the gardens. They met whilst studying Horticulture at East Surrey College, so they both really have a keen interest in gardening. They told us the reason they love volunteering at Hever Castle is because it is such a relaxing and beautiful setting. Each week they can’t wait to get here and work alongside all the other friendly gardeners. Grace and Zazil also really enjoy learning expert tips from the gardening team.

Grace and Zazil agreed that their favourite part of the gardens was the continuous theme of water, from the Inner Moat, to the Outer Moat and onto the Lake, “it’s a very tranquil place to be”. Along with that, they both love how cheeky the ducks are!

Volunteers can be tasked with anything from clearing leaves and dead-heading flowers to helping preserve and maintain specific parts of the gardens alongside the permanent gardening team.

If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, you must be available during week days and have a clear passion for all things gardening! Email Head Gardener, Neil for more details.
