The history of Christmas carols

Christmas tickets go on sale this month! For annual members, Christmas comes early – 2 weeks early! Annual members can enjoy two weeks priority booking from 31st August. Tickets go on sale for general release on 14th September. Annual Members – book now! 

This year our Christmas is all about the traditional Christmas carol. You’ve sung them in church, at school, or with friends and family and you know all of their words by heart, but do you know the stories behind some of the best-known Christmas carols? Walk through the rooms of the Castle adorned with beautiful decorations and learn about the history of these seasonal songs.

Follow the Christmas trail and discover the Twelve Days of Christmas as you wander through the illuminated gardens as dusk falls. And if they’ve been good, bring the children to meet Father Christmas, enjoy relaxed Christmas shopping in the gift shops, and sample delicious festive food in the restaurants.

Wrap up warm and enjoy a walk under the stars at Twilight Christmas. Witness the enchantment of the Castle and gardens festooned with fabulous colours and twinkling lights.

Bring torches and pop on your wellies to get into the festive spirit. Explore the captivating Christmas trail and meet characters from the Twelve Days of Christmas carol as you wander.

Discover the history of Christmas carols and the stories behind these seasonal songs as you walk through the Castle.

In front of the Castle, ride the carousel and enjoy vintage fairground stalls. Meanwhile, a seasonal BBQ and mulled wine will tempt the taste buds, with seasonal dining options also available in the restaurants. And if you still have time, children can make an angel in our craft workshop.

Autumn Colour Trail

As the air turns crisp and a rich display of autumn colour envelops the countryside; pack your wellies and head to Hever Castle. Enjoy the crunch of leaves underfoot and spectacular autumn hues.

The summer perennials may have faded, but the riot of colour in the grounds has only just started. Across the grounds, shades of orange, magenta, and yellow hypnotise at every turn. Be dazzled by the vibrant tones of acers, whilst the historic Chesnut Avenue will have you feeling fully absorbed by autumn’s beauty.

It’s the season to enjoy the tumble of leaves from the trees, early morning mists and mellow fruitfulness. So pack your walking shoes and head for Hever this autumn for a day to remember.

Halloween half term

Double double, toil, and trouble! Once again this October half term, Hever Castle will be cast under the bewitching dark spell of Halloween. With cobwebs in every corner and ghosts hiding in the cupboards, witches and wizards unite this half term to marvel in the magic! 

Meet Vicious Vampire and his Goblin friend in the Creepy Crypt and hear terrifying tales of goblins, trolls, witches and vampires. Follow the eerie Halloween trail, help ward off vampires with a spooky activity and sink your teeth into a sweet treat. With prizes for the best creepy costumes, a visit to Hever Castle is sure to be fang-tastic fun for all the family.

Dazzling Daffodils new event for 2018
21 – 25 March 

We’re delighted to announce our new daffodil event taking place in March 2018. The gardens have long been respected for their fabulous show of spring colour and now we’re turning the spotlight to the dazzling daffodils that parade across the Estate.  

With 10,000 new bulbs planted every year, there are hundreds of thousands of bulbs across the grounds guaranteed to put you into a daffodil daze!

Trumpeting the daffodil is expert Johnny Walkers of Walkers Bulbs, winner of 24 consecutive golds at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. He will be giving walking tours and talks on the daffodil – what he doesn’t know about daffs isn’t worth knowing!

Johnny leads Walkers Bulbs, the mail order subsidiary of Taylors Bulbs, that gives gardeners direct access to bulbs of fantastic quality with an exciting range of varieties. This September these bulbs will be available to Hever Castle newsletter readers, with a 10% discount, at bulbs.co.uk; ready to turn your garden at home into its own spectacle come spring! Ghost hunt at Hever Castle

Halloween Dine & Stay

Ciaran O’Keeffe will once again be returning to Hever Castle on Tuesday 31st October to host our annual Halloween Dine and Stay event. Join us for this sell out evening which offers the opportunity to dine in the Castle, hunt ghosts, and partake in paranormal investigations.Then spend the night in one of the five star bedrooms located in the Astor Wing of Hever Castle. Breakfast the next day is included as is the opportunity to stay and enjoy the Castle and gardens on Wednesday 1st November 2017.

Tickets cost £200.00 per person based on two people sharing a Deluxe bedroom. Upgrades are available to a Feature bedroom at £20.00 pp and a Superior bedroom at £25.00 pp.

Non-residential ‘dinner and entertainment only’ packages are also available at £95.00 per person.

Wedding Showcase

Fall in love with Hever Castle. We’re pleased to announce that we’re hosting our second Wedding Showcase of the year on Sunday 1st October, noon until 5 pm. Whether you’ve always dreamt of a fairy tale Hever wedding or are newly engaged and seeking out a venue to wow, Hever will unquestionably take your breath away.

Be it the stately grandeur of the Castle itself, the country house atmosphere of the Astor Wing, or the stunning lakeside location of the Guthrie Pavilion, Hever Castle offers a dream-come-true location for your special day. 

You will also have the opportunity to meet our expert wedding coordinators and view the venues set up as if they were dressed for your wedding.

Winter Golf Days – new brochure

Whether you are a society, corporate or charity golf day organiser, Hever Castle Golf Club has a selection of packages and bespoke experiences to suit the needs of your group. Throughout December and January we can even add a festive touch to your day.

Our winter packages reflect the shorter golfing time available to play. The Winter Promise means you can play the courses as intended all year round.

A warm friendly welcome awaits you in the Tudor style Clubhouse and for those chilly afternoons and evenings, a traditional log burner provides a cosy setting for a hearty seasonal meal.
