COVID-19 (Coronavirus) update
There is a pub in the village of Hever, The Henry VIII Inn, which is within walking distance, but we advise that you check their website for any changes they may make to service dates and times and to book a table. There are other pubs in proximity and when you book a room with us, we will include in your confirmation email a couple of suggested local places to consider. Do get in touch if you would like a full list in advance of making a booking.
During the day, on days that the Gardens are open to the public, there is a cafe providing hot food, a selection of salads, sandwiches and snacks.
In light of COVID-19, our cancellation policy is currently 24 hours. Full charges will be applied to all bookings cancelled within 24 hours of the date of arrival to the card details used to make the booking.
Please clarify the differences between the two wings i.e. the Astor Wing bedrooms and the Anne Boleyn Wing bedrooms.
Both the Astor Wing and the Anne Boleyn Wing accommodation is in what was originally referred to as the Tudor Village, Astor’s magnificent extension to Hever Castle created in 1903. Both wings are accessed via a private gated entrance leading to the private car park and reception.
The Astor Wing offers a lounge and a Billiards Room and an impressive dining room in the Tudor Suite, surrounded by private lawns. On dates when we do not have private events in the Astor Wing, Anne Boleyn Wing guests will have access to the Astor Wing lounge and Billiards Room.
The Anne Boleyn Wing offers a charming breakfast room with views over the orchard to the Castle.
The Anne Boleyn Wing bedrooms are air conditioned; the Astor Wing bedrooms do not offer air conditioning.
On dates when both wings are open for Bed and Breakfast, the location of breakfast is dependent on the total number of guests in house. All guests may take breakfast together in the Tudor Suite Dining Room; however, on days when numbers do not allow for this, Anne Boleyn Wing guests will take breakfast in the Anne Boleyn Breakfast Room
Guests from both wings can relax in the Courtyard when the weather allows.
Both accommodation wings can be booked in conjunction with a private event and on such event days Bed and Breakfast accommodation is not available. On dates when the Astor Wing is not hosting a private event, Anne Boleyn Wing guests will have access to the Astor Wing Lounge and Billiards Room.
Astor Wing bedrooms are available on an eight-week lead in time. Anne Boleyn Wing bedrooms are available on a six-month lead in time. Lead in time refers to how far in advance you can book a room.
Bed and Breakfast accommodation is only available to book on dates when we do not have an exclusive-use private function booked.
I’ve checked availability online and whatever date I input it just says that no rooms are available, why is this?
This is because of the lead in times for bookings as explained above. Dates that have not yet been ‘opened for sale’ will show as ‘unavailable’. This does not necessarily mean that these dates will stay unavailable. It quite likely means that they are yet to be released and will be released in line with the lead times, providing there are no private functions booked in. If you are unsure, it is always best to phone the Bed and Breakfast Team on 01732 861800 who will happily check dates for you.
Our events diary changes on a daily basis. A date that might be looking like it could become available for Bed and Breakfast might a couple of days later get booked for an event. The Bed and Breakfast Team are happy to give you an indication of how things are looking and will certainly be able to rule out any dates that already have a confirmed event in. We cannot, however, guarantee Bed and Breakfast dates beyond the relevant lead in time.
We do not hold waiting lists. If a room cancels it will be released back online automatically for resale.
All the rooms at Hever Castle Luxury Bed and Breakfast have been individually styled and grated five-star by Quality in Tourism, no two rooms are the same, each is beautifully unique.
As you go up the room types, the rooms have aspects that make them that little more luxurious and special. Some rooms are extremely spacious, some having stunning views and in the superior rooms you are guaranteed to have a separate bath and walk-in shower, whereas other room types can sometimes have one or the other. The standard rooms can sometimes have more limited views but are still delightfully charming bedrooms. Every room has been uniquely decorated with beautiful furnishings by our interior designer.
We endeavour to book guests into preferred rooms where possible, however, we guarantee a room type, rather than a specific bedroom. Given the age of the property, from time to time we may have unavoidable maintenance works or necessary room upkeep which can, unfortunately, put certain bedrooms out of service. There are other occasions where guests may have quite specific accessibility needs, such as requiring a ground floor room or a walk-in shower. We also have some rooms that can accommodate families, whereas others cannot. For these reasons, although we will do our utmost to allocate a guest with a preferred room, it cannot be guaranteed. Please do let us know if you have any accessibility requirements during your stay.
The Bed and Breakfast has one fully wheelchair accessible bedroom located in the Astor Wing bookable eight weeks in advance. This bedroom is furnished with a wet room style bathroom, assistance rails and offers plenty of space for a wheelchair. Yes – there are some rooms that can accommodate an additional child’s bed which are suitable for a child age 12 and under. There are also some rooms that can accommodate a cot. There are a couple of rooms that have a sofa bed, suitable for one older child or two smaller children.
There is one deluxe double room in the Astor Wing that has a sofa bed but can also be adjoined to a next-door single room on request. The landing outside the double and single room can be ‘locked off’ to provide you with a ‘suite of two bedrooms’ therefore in effect accommodating two adults in the double room with together two small children on the sofa bed and another child (or adult) in the single room. Please refer to the below question for costs relating to children.
If children are staying in your room with you the following costs apply:
Truckle bed / z bed: £50.00 per child to include breakfast
Sofa bed x 1 child: £50.00 to include breakfast
Sofa bed x 2 small children £64.70 to include breakfast for two children
There is an additional £14.70 per child for multiple night stays.
Cots are available at a charge of £20.00 per cot.
The above charges cover the additional towels and linen supplied and these charges are non-negotiable. We do not allow you to provide your own additional beds, however, you may bring your own travel cot.
Please note that not all rooms can accommodate camp beds and/or cots. Rooms that can are subject to availability and must notify us at the time of booking and not on arrival. If you have not informed us in advance of your stay that children are staying in the room with you, we regret that if your room is not suitable for children to stay in then for Health and Safety reasons, we will not be able to check you in. If it is and only if we have the additional bed stock to accommodate them, you will be charged for children at the time of check-in.
We believe that the Bed and Breakfast tariff is very competitively priced considering the grading and standard of the bedrooms, the quality of the breakfast provided and the inclusion of tickets for the Castle and grounds for the duration of your stay. On this basis, we do not offer discounts either on a one-night stay or longer stays.
We offer ‘Play and Stay’ packages that incorporate a stay in our Bed and Breakfast with a round of golf at Hever Castle Golf Club, located five minutes from the Bed and Breakfast. Play and Stay rates are available from either our Bed and Breakfast team on 01732 861800.
We offer Luxury Packages that can be booked to enhance your stay. These include a bottle of bubbly and Kentish fudge and you can also purchase a hand tied seasonal bouquet of flowers from our local florist. To speak to a member of the team or to place an order, please call 01732 861800.
We do not allow pets in the Bed and Breakfast. Assistance dogs are of course welcome.
To protect the privacy and peace and quiet of other Bed and Breakfast guests we do not allow for your visitors to join you in the Bed and Breakfast. If you wish to meet family/friends within the Castle gardens they are welcome to enter as a Day Visitor. Alternatively, the King Henry VIII pub comes highly recommended, located opposite the main entrance to the Castle.
Yes it is. You can arrive from midday on your date of arrival to collect your tickets to the Castle, however, check in is not guaranteed until 3pm. You are welcome to stay and enjoy the Castle and grounds on the day that you check out. Please note we do ask that you move your car to the Day Visitor car park after you have checked out so as to free up our car park for new Bed and Breakfast arrivals.
On dates where the Castle is closed to the public, guests will be able to visit the Castle on the morning of departure. Garden access may be restricted in some areas but there will still be many areas to explore.

Yes, access to certain parts of the gardens is available to Bed and Breakfast guests after the Castle and grounds have closed to the public. For security reasons, however, not all areas are kept open.
I have seen on your website that you have a swimming pool and a tennis court, do I have access to these?
You are welcome to use the tennis court, please ask at reception for rackets and balls. The swimming pool is only available for our exclusive private event clients and not Bed and Breakfast guests.

There are tea and coffee making facilities in every room. Although we do not currently have a bar as such, we do offer a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks from reception which can be pre-ordered in advance or selected from our bar menu on the day, a member of staff will be on reception until midnight to take your order. If you would like to place a pre-order, please do let us know.
Breakfast is served between 8am and 9.30am.

The sale of gift vouchers has currently been suspended due to limited bedroom availability for 2021.
If you are interested in booking ten bedrooms or more ahead of the lead times for the Bed and Breakfast, we can offer an ‘Exclusive Use’ private event in the Astor Wing. Under such circumstances, you can book any date, subject to availability. On such occasions, we do not sell the other bedrooms in the Astor Wing to Bed and Breakfast guests and as such the pricing structure is different from that of the Bed and Breakfast. There is the requirement for you to book dinner for a minimum of x 20 guests as part of a private exclusive use hire event and a facility fee is also charged.
