Forest Bathing for Nervous System Regulation

This event has been postponed – new date coming soon! Discover other events with Tansy in the Wild here.

Forest Bathing for Nervous System Regulation is a gentle, immersive woodland experience designed to support deep rest, restoration, and emotional balance. Taking place within the tranquil private woodlands of Hever Castle, this seasonal workshop invites you to slow down and reconnect with nature in a way that feels grounding, spacious and deeply nourishing.

Guided by Tansy in the Wild, this experience is based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, which encourages mindful connection with the natural world through the senses. Rather than walking with purpose or pace, participants are invited to move slowly, pause often, and simply be present with the living landscape.

Modern life can keep the nervous system in a constant state of activation. Forest bathing offers an antidote to this overstimulation by gently encouraging the body to shift from “fight or flight” into a calmer, more regulated state. Through guided sensory invitations, breath awareness, and quiet moments of reflection, participants are supported to unwind physical tension, reduce mental overload, and restore a sense of inner steadiness.

Set against the ancient trees and seasonal rhythms of Hever Castle’s woodland, this experience creates space for the nervous system to settle naturally. You may notice a softening in the body, a quieting of the mind, and an increased sense of clarity and connection.

The session concludes with a relaxed gathering for herbal tea and seasonal refreshments, offering time to integrate the experience and return gently to everyday awareness.

No previous experience is needed. This is not about performance or achievement, but about permission — to slow down, to notice, and to receive the restorative benefits of nature.

This is an invitation to step out of urgency and into presence, supported by the living landscape of Hever Castle.

I didn’t realise how overstimulated I’d become until I stepped into the woods and my whole body exhaled.
