The History of Christmas Carols – Christmas at Hever Castle

November 25 – December 10 (Wed – Sun)
December 11 – 24 (Daily)

You’ve sung them in church, at school, or with friends and family and you know all of their words by heart, but do you know the stories behind some of the best-known Christmas carols?

Walk through the rooms of the Castle adorned with beautiful decorations and welcoming log fires to learn about the history of these seasonal songs.

Discover the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ trail and wander through the illuminated gardens as dusk falls.

Each weekend and daily from selected dates ride the carousel and enjoy vintage fairground stalls (£1 per go), meet characters along the trail, hug a husky and take your photo as a memento (suggested £2 donation towards Siberian Husky Welfare Association) and children can join a craft workshop to make an angel.

Before booking, please read the important information at the bottom of this page.

Please note that on 24 December, final entry to the grounds is at 15:00 and final exit 16:30. Castle last entry is 15:15 and final exit 16:00. Father Christmas last entry is at 15:45 and final exit 16:00.

Christmas at Hever Castle

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Father Christmas:

  • Children visiting the Grotto require tickets for Father Christmas plus admission tickets. Advanced booking is essential and we will ask the name and age of each child so that they can receive an appropriate gift. Please enter the child’s age at the time of their visit and ensure all details are correct before submitting to help us to make their visit as special as possible.
  • Your booking time is the time you are required to arrive at the Grotto, not your booked time with Father Christmas. This is allocated by Mother Christmas on a first come first served basis when you arrive at the Grotto. Only 2 adults will be permitted into the Grotto per booking.
  • You should arrive in the grounds at least 30 minutes before your booking time. If you miss your slot you may be asked to try again later but may risk not being able to see Father Christmas at all.

Experience:

  • To enjoy the full experience we recommend you allow 3 hours for your visit. Attractions, shops and eateries will start closing before the final exit time. Suggested last entry is 15:00. Final exit is at 18:00. Last entry to the grounds is at 16:30 and last entry to the castle is at 16:45.
  • As much of this experience is outdoors we recommend you wrap up warm and pop on your wellies or suitable shoes.
  • On 24 December, final entry to the grounds is at 15:00 and final exit 16:30. Castle last entry is 15:15 and final exit 16:00. Father Christmas last entry is at 15:45 and final exit 16:00.

Annual Members cannot book for non-members, other than those under 5 years, until the 14 September.
  • If you are a B&B Guest or have Complimentary Tickets: please contact the Estate Office to make your booking – call 01732 865224 09:00 – 17:30. You will also need to produce a valid ticket on entry.
