
Step into the magic of Christmas at Hever Castle as the enchanting story of The Nutcracker comes to life.
Begin at Drosselmeyer’s workshop, meet familiar characters along the way, and be swept into the colourful Land of Sweets through charming displays. Then step inside the Castle to enjoy the warmth of a traditional Christmas. A visit to Father Christmas is available as an optional extra for little ones.
As darkness falls from 4pm, the grounds are magically transformed. Wrap up warm and step into a world of wonder as the Castle, gardens, and lake are bathed in festive lights, capturing the heart of the Christmas season.
There will be limited capacity with timed entry to Christmas at Hever Castle so make sure to plan now to help secure the date and time of your choice.

The magical Christmas Lights experience starts at 4pm, when you can wrap up warm and explore the grounds. Witness the enchantment of the Castle, gardens, and lake, festooned with fabulous colours and twinkling lights. Throughout your journey, you’ll discover music and interactive areas in different parts of the grounds.
Bring torches and pop on your wellies to see Hever Castle’s much-loved gardens lit up with glorious colour washes, spectacular illuminations and enchanting music.
Take the chance to snap photos among the decorations or interact with the light displays which illuminate different trees throughout the grounds.
Warning: Christmas light displays contain flashing lights.

For an extra special visit, nothing says ‘Christmas’ quite like a visit to Father Christmas at Hever Castle in the Grotto. You’ll be greeted by Mother Christmas before journeying along a tree-lined path, enter the post office, stop by Father Christmas’ workshop, and encounter cheerful elves along the way. At the end of the enchanting paths you’ll meet Father Christmas in his cosy log cabin and receive a gift.
When booking a Father Christmas ticket, entry to the Grotto will be at a later time than grounds admission. This will be shown on the ticket selected.
The latest grounds admission time for Father Christmas tickets is 17:30 when grounds close at 20:30. There is no Grotto on days when grounds close at 18:30. Last entry to the Grotto is 15:45 on the 24 December when grounds close at 16:30.

Inside the Castle, you’ll find beautifully decorated rooms, welcoming log fires, and twinkling Christmas trees with hints of our ‘The Nutcracker’s Christmas’ theme. Plus you will experience a Tudor Christmas in the Boleyn Apartment.
Audio Guides will not be available during the Christmas experience.

The ground floor of the castle is accessible to manual wheelchairs but there is no access to the castle for motorised wheelchairs, prams or buggies.

Begin your journey in Drosselmeyer’s workshop where our Nutcracker comes to life and then sets off on a thrilling adventure with Clara. You will see The Nutcracker & Clara battle The Mouse King before rejoicing in the Land of Sweets with the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Step into The Nutcracker, say hello and snap a photo with your favourite characters along your way including The Nutcracker, Sugar Plum Fairy, The Mouse King, and Drosselmeyer. (character appearances vary, and different characters will be available on different days).

The Fairground Rides consist of the Gallopers, a Big Wheel and an Octopus Ride.
The Octopus is a vintage children’s ride, as the ride spins, small cars attached to long arms rise and fall, creating a fun and gentle up-and-down motion. The ride has eight arms like the tentacles of an octopus, but it’s not a real sea creature, just a playful design!
The Fairground Rides are open:

Fairground Ride tickets:
Fairground Ride tickets can be purchased in advance or on the day from the designated Ticket Hut located opposite the Information Hut. Cash and card payments will be accepted. Prices are TBC.

Appreciate relaxed Christmas shopping in the Gift Shops, and sample delicious festive food in the restaurants and kiosks. We welcome picnics but picnic areas are limited.
For pre-visit dining, The Waterside Bar, Restaurant & Terrace is situated at Hever Golf & Wellbeing, just one mile from the Castle & Gardens entrance. Festive lunches are available on select dates. Pre-booking is advisable on 01732 701010 or waterside@hevercastle.co.uk.

Within the grounds of the Hever Castle Estate, there are two opportunities for you to stay the night with us.
Hever Castle has played host to many important events and celebrations for over 600 years. In 1903 when William Waldorf Astor set about restoring Hever Castle to its former glory, he added the Astor Wing, to accommodate his family and guests, before creating a lake and the spectacular Italian Garden to house his impressive collection of ancient Greek and Roman statuary.
