Exciting developments are ahead in the Astor Wing at Hever Castle in terms of interior design.
Our wonderful bedrooms are already award winning, but this year interior designer Sarah Clark, Design Director from Interiors at Nine to Eleven returned to make further transformations to the Astor Wing, the exclusive use hire venue, award winning wedding venue and Hever Castle’s luxury 5* gold bed and breakfast.
Sarah began the interior design transformation of the Astor Wing in 2010. Sarah, an accomplished interior designer and project manager was commissioned to update the bedrooms and bathrooms for guests hiring the venue. The interior design brief was to create luxury accommodation maintaining the charm and integrity of former owner Lord Astor’s original buildings.
Sarah embraced the brief and added in her innovative, interior design style, and step by step created handcrafted, cleverly designed bedrooms, bathrooms and extraordinary spaces. The renovations were so well received that the decision was made to launch the venue to a wider audience and Hever Castle’s luxury bed and breakfast was born.
The success of the bed and breakfast brought further interior design innovations and in 2013 Sarah began the 18-month project management works to convert what were store rooms and office spaces into 9 creative bedrooms and suites. The Anne Boleyn Wing, completed in 2015, combines classical style and original features with all our modern-day expectations for a 5* experience.
Last year Sarah refreshed our Daffodil room. The brief being “Romantic Arabic Escapism”; Sarah introduced layers of silks, taffetas, voiles and delicate embroideries, Arabic damasks and beaded wallpapers, were complimented by a new 6ft half tester bed with shaped pelmet and headboard while layers of beautiful trimmings and fabric swags created an abundance of luxury, romance and restfulness.
This year Sarah, who has 25 years interior design experience, will be creating a fresh new look for our Walnut room. Sarah says: “I am delighted to be continuing my journey at Hever Castle. Every new project here is so exciting. I love how Hever is constantly moving forward whilst offering complete escapism. I am privileged to be part of the Hever Castle team and thoroughly enjoy the ability to channel my creativity in such a beautiful environment.”
Walnut room is part of the original Astor Wing and offers understated elegance and beautiful, original plaster cornicing, signature woodwork and handmade leaded windows. Sarah is fully renovating the bathroom providing unexpected modernity whilst her concept layouts, inspired by Lord Astor’s Edwardian/American heritage, have created a ‘room within the room’. The scheme promises depth, colour and vibrancy. It promotes opulence enhanced by a celebration of trimmings.
Sarah has also worked with the team on interior design refurbishments to Medley Court, Hever Castle’s 5* gold holiday house and Hever Castle Golf Club.
