Schools are being invited take part in Eco Week at Hever Castle and create sustainable sculptures with a historical theme, as part of a new event in February 2024.

All entries into the competition will be on display in the grounds during the February half term event  for visitors to vote on. It is open to primary and secondary aged children

The winning entry will get a free school trip to Hever Castle and Gardens for their class.

The sculptures are to be made out of any sustainable material. The theme can reflect anything historic, for example, a person or place, or a particular event.

The structures should be freestanding, measure between 3ft and 6ft high and fairly hardy to the temperamental British weather!

The completed models will need to be delivered to Hever Castle between Monday 29th January and Wednesday 7th February 2024.

Voting takes place from Saturday 10th February and the winner will be announced on Tuesday 27th February 2024.

Those interested in taking part should contact Harriet Waldron on: [email protected]

Visitors to the event can also take part in a fun eco activity as well as wander around the grounds to find out more about what Hever Castle, rated silver for green tourism, does to be environmentally friendly and sustainable.
