Young golfer Jensen Hull who started playing golf at Hever Castle Golf Club aged six has turned professional.
Jensen Hull finished his amateur career with four weeks away in Scotland at The Amateur Championship. He finished by tieing 17th out of 144 competitors at the highest ranked amateur golf event in Europe.
As a professional, he now has to start at the bottom of the league and work his way up the ladder. Jensen Hull’s first outing as a professional was for The Open Qualifying. He finished a respectful 33rd out of 72nd so was a spectator rather than a competitor at the 149th Open in Sandwich, Kent.
Jensen received his first win as a professional in his 6th event at Druids Health Golf Club on Wednesday 4 August 2021.
R1 – Jensen started birdie/birdie… eventually finishing the round leading at -4 tied with 1x other player, with the top 10 players all being within 3x shot
R2 – His playing opponent birdied the 1st hole / Jensen birdied the 2nd hole, with both players now tied on -5 on the third tee.
Jensen went onto birdie 3,4,5 & 6 to open up a 4 shot lead at -9 a bogey at 7 was followed by birdies at 9 &11 which put Jensen on -10 with 7x holes to play.
He 3 putted on 12 for bogey, then went into cruise control to finish with 6x straight pars.
Finishing on -9 five shots clear of second place.
Other Achievements
As an amateur Jensen had won many junior competitions, weekend swindles, and men’s competitions and went on to represent Kent and England at various levels and ages.
Among his achievements as a young golfer were earning his first England cap at the Irish Boys’ Amateur Open Championship in June 2018 and reaching the semi-final of the British Boys Amateur Championship in August 2018, with the top 288 juniors from Europe entering.
In his last year as a junior – U18 he finished 5th on the England Order of Merit & 16th in the European Order of Merit, these are determined on your position finished in various national competitions.
The young golfer was a member of the U18 Regional England squad / 2x year coaching programme (Kent & Sussex) 2016-2018.
At the age of 14 he broke the course record at Hever Castle shooting 67 – 5 under par, and went on to break his own record shooting 66 – 6 under par.
Jensen Hull won the Hever Castle club championship in 2016 & 2018.
He won the West Kent club championship in 2016 & 2017.
The young golfer won Sundridge Park club championship 2018.
He captained Kent at the following ages U16, U17 & U18 – also leading the Kent U18 to the national Boys county championships in 2018, with Kent finishing second.
Jensen competed in amateur competitions in Portugal, Spain and Italy.
His dedication to the game sees him playing 5-6 hours of the sport a day and going to the gym four times a week.
Jensen’s ultimate ambition: “world number one.”
Dad Michael said: “When Jensen was eight years old I took him up to the 12th tee and asked him if he would like this as his back garden. He answered: ‘No I would love it.”
