1940s event

Hever’s Home Front: June 22 – 23

Step back in time to wartime Britain at Hever’s Home Front at this 1940s event.

Take part in a swing dance in the tea dance tent, tap your toes to music and browse stalls selling vintage wares and refreshments.

Experience the sights and smells of the time with authentic cooking along with displays of US military vehicles.

Step into the shoes of those during the time by dressing up in period costume with prizes for the best-dressed visitors hosted by Viv the Spiv. Finish off your outfit with a trip to a 1940s hair salon.

Meet Winston Churchill and enjoy displays of Home Guard drills and period model boats on the Moat, or have a selfie with a life-size model Spitfire.

Your little ones will be able to take part in a workshop in the museum, plus there will be tours of the KSY Military Museum throughout the day.

Plus, on Saturday 22nd June we are honoured to host several veteran soldiers, pilots and sailors who served both during and after World War II. Supported by the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans, you will be able to hear first-hand accounts of the war and have the opportunity to ask any questions you want to.
