Peter Parks Head PGA Professional Hever Castle Golf Club
The PGA professionals at Hever Golf Club can guide you to a better game with golf tuition on the greens and using cutting edge technology in the Indoor Golf Studio. Meet the team behind the lessons at the club.
Peter is Director of Golf at Hever Castle Golf Club.
His love for the game started when he was 12 and he started working at Edenbridge Golf Club picking up range balls. He met Pro John Powell who gave him lessons, igniting his enthusiasm for golf and coaching.
At the age of 12 he had a handicap of 18 which improved to 8 within 12 months.
John then went onto join Hever as Head Pro with Peter as his assistant. Peter took over as Head Pro in 2000.
Peter is the founder of the Castle Golf School and is responsible for the recruitment of PGA professionals who deliver golf tuition at the club.
He is a PGA Advanced Professional and was one of the first professionals in the UK to be awarded the ASQ Level 3 qualification in Golf Coaching.
Peter is the Lead County Coach for Kent boys Under 13’s and 14’s squads and has worked closely with Kent golf over the past few years on initiatives to develop junior golf in the county.
Peter’s favourite golf course is the old course at Sunningdale.
On home turf he picks hole 6 on the championship course as his favourite: “Although it is one of the shortest holes on the course it still requires careful club selection and a precise shot. The wind direction can always vary on that hole making the selection even more difficult.”
Peter is available for both individual and group golf tuition.
His book ‘How to Improve at Golf’ was published in 2008 and has been translated into five different languages
Peter is married and has two boys.
Sam is Head Teaching Professional and got into golf through his grandad at the age of 14 where his love for the game began.
Sam started to play golf at Holtye Golf Club where he completed his PGA training and turned Pro by the age of 19.
Having coached golf for 11 years Sam has helped all levels and ages of golfer with golf tuition to improve their games in order to reach their golfing goals.
Sam has been a PGA member for 13 years and has gained Class AA status. Sam is committed to continually developing his knowledge and is currently undertaking the Bull 3D Level 1 training programme to further understand how the body moves in the golf swing via a 3D motion capture system. In 2017, Sam completed an Advanced Coaching Qualification run through the University of Birmingham and is currently Level 2 Swing Catalyst Certified.
Sam uses current teaching technologies such as a GC2/HMT launch Monitor, Bull 3D system, Swing Catalyst Balance Plate and high-speed cameras for video analysis to help problem solve, highlight and explain current swing patterns and priorities to the player.
As a qualified Goldsmith Master Craftsman, Sam offers the highest quality club fitting services to correctly fit golf equipment to each player’s individual needs. Using his expert knowledge he helps players maximise their performance and enjoyment of the game.
His favourite courses are El Saler in Spain and Hindhead in Surrey.
The 16th hole on the championship course is his top pick.
He says: “It is a tight driving hole and as you put into the green there are trees on either side framing it. Once you are on the green it is undulating, there is no room for error.”
Sam focuses on working with golfers on a long term basis with six or 12 month development golf tuition programmes available to sign up in April and October.
