Carolyn Swan, Lady Captain at Hever Castle Golf & Wellbeing is taking on a 18 hole golf challenge.

She is aiming to take on 18 golf courses in one day, playing a hole at each one and cycling the 72 miles between them.

Carolyn is setting off at 5am on Monday 17th June from Hever and intends to return 16 hours later.

She will be playing Hever Princes course, Villa Golf, Sweetwoods, Holtye, Royal Ashdown Old Course, Royal Ashdown West Course, Chartham Park, Lingfield Park, Horne ParkGodstone, Tandridge, Limpsfield Chart, Westerham, Knole Park, Wildernesse, Nizels, Hilden and back to Hever’s Championship course.

Carolyn has run five marathons and competed in many National bike races but is now focussing on golf as her main sport.

She said: “Golf is now my primary sport.  I enjoy the mental challenge of the game.  My challenge is to raise money for a very worth well cause, Mental Health Resource in Tunbridge wells, which is local to the golf club.

“I have always been into sport and feel it is a good way to keep mentally healthy and physically fit.  My husband came up with a challenge to combine both my passions to raise money.   Cycle between 18 different golf courses and play a hole at each in one day. This got me very excited. Mike is a very keen golfer, but on this occasion he is going to leave his clubs at home and drive the route ahead of me with my golf clubs and caddie for me on each hole.

“So many people suffer with mental health, the subject is still very taboo especially in men. I want to raise awareness and get people talking – and donating – to this worthwhile cause.”
