In its 40th Anniversary season, this summer the Knights of Royal England will be entertaining visitors with exhilarating displays of action, stunts, falls and fights in an authentic arena complete with a Royal Box. Battling it out in the saddle and on foot in a traditional form of joust, the valiant knights will then compete for points to find this season’s ultimate champion at Hever Castle’s spectacular castle jousting event.

New to the arena this year is Lord Ashley of Hampshire, appearing as the “Anne of Cleves Champion.” To mark the anniversary, this year’s show introduces a light-hearted story inspired by two of Hever Castle’s most famous Tudor connections: Anne Boleyn and Anne of Cleves. The “Battle of the Queens” theme adds an extra layer of fun and theatre to the arena, helping bring history to life in an engaging way for all ages.

13:30 – Events Field opens
13:30 (approx) – Horses arrive on forecourt
13:45 Castle Forecourt – Meet Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn and a few of their Royal Foot soldiers at the Castle and join the Knights on their procession to the events field
14:15 – Tournament starts. Approximately 1¼ hours of spectacular action, stunts, falls, fights and galloping horses, a warmup, introductions, fanfares, professional commentary, and music throughout the show.
15:30 – Tournament finishes.
Please note: The Events field is on uneven ground and may be difficult to access for wheelchairs or buggies.
Come and sit on the vast grass banks (no charge). Alternatively you can sit in our stands which are £2.00 per seat (CASH ONLY). Please note these are limited and so are on first-come-first-serve basis and cannot be pre-booked.
