Father’s Day SuPERCAR Weekend: June 16 & 17

Classic cars in a stunning location with a myriad of food options to boot – the perfect way to thank dad this Father’s Day is at Hever Castle & Gardens.

There will be supercars on display as well as fun activities for the kids. This two-day event is supported by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club and Ferrari Owners Club of Great Britain with a stunning selection of Alfa Romeos on display on Saturday 16th June and fabulous Ferraris on Sunday 17th June.

Veteran British former Formula One and sports car racing driver David Piper will be at Hever on Sunday 17th June signing photographs and meeting with visitors. David Piper is considered to be one of the greatest sports car racing privateers, having competed in World Championship and national events all over the world. During the 1950s he owned an MG J4 and this was followed by a number of Lotuses, before switching in the early-’60s to Ferraris. His professional career ended in 1970 after an accident during the making of the film Le Mans with Steve McQueen which resulted in the loss of part of his right leg. Today David is 87 years old and still organises races every year in South Africa after founding a series of historic races supporting Formula One with former racing car driver Mike Knight.

Children can make a car themed keyring in a free craft workshop or have their faces painted. Visitors aged 7-14 can explore the Tudor Towers adventure playground with its own moat, drawbridge and three turrets. It features three slides and two poles and lots of interactive elements including musical instruments, a floor maze and hidden boxes to find. Other things for families to enjoy including the challenge of the Yew Maze or the popular Water Maze (but don’t forget to bring a towel!)

And after all this hungry work, enjoy some family time with a variety of food options from a barbecue to pizza and hog roast as well as more hearty lunch options in our two restaurants finished off with ice cream or a variety of mouth-watering homemade cakes.
