
Step into the world of knights, legends and medieval adventure at Hever Castle from 22 July to 31 August 2026. Celebrating 40 years of jousting, the Castle’s summer holiday programme offers one of Kent’s most exciting family days out, packed with live entertainment, interactive activities and outdoor adventures for children of all ages.
Young visitors can become Knights-in-Training in the immersive A Knight’s Tale experience, learning the skills of bravery, teamwork and chivalry under the guidance of King Arthur’s Court. Throughout the summer, on selected dates, families can also enjoy spectacular jousting tournaments* from the world-famous Knights of Royal England, falconry displays* featuring magnificent birds of prey, face painting and medieval-themed activities.
Combining history, storytelling, action and adventure, Summer Holidays at Hever Castle is the perfect destination for families looking for unforgettable summer holiday activities, outdoor fun and memorable days out with children in Kent.

As Hever Castle celebrates 40 years of jousting, children are invited to follow in the footsteps of legendary knights and begin their training under the guidance of King Arthur’s Court.
Through a series of interactive challenges and activities, aspiring knights will test their strength, courage and skill while learning the values of chivalry, teamwork and bravery. Young squires can take part in hobby horse jousting, knightly training and medieval-inspired games before completing their adventure with a memorable photo opportunity at the legendary Sword in the Stone.

Join the expert team from the Birds of Prey Willow Centre as they showcase magnificent birds in flight during these fascinating falconry displays.
Taking place twice daily, each display lasts approximately 20 minutes and offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about the ancient art of falconry while watching these incredible birds demonstrate their speed, agility and natural hunting abilities.
Please note: The Events Field is situated on uneven ground and may be difficult to access with wheelchairs or buggies.

Celebrate 40 years of jousting at Hever Castle with the world-famous Knights of Royal England.
The Events Field opens from 1:30pm, giving visitors the chance to explore the medieval atmosphere, browse knightly merchandise, enjoy refreshments and secure a viewing spot before the action begins.
At 1:45pm, meet Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn and their Royal Foot Soldiers before joining their procession from the Castle to the Events Field.
From 2:15pm, prepare for over an hour of thrilling entertainment featuring galloping horses, spectacular jousting, daring stunts, dramatic falls, sword fights, music, fanfares and professional commentary.

Add the finishing touch to your day with colourful face painting from Carol Slone from Sparkles Face Painting.
Face painting is available on a first come, first served basis. Visitors should book a timeslot with the face painter, pay in the Hever Shop and return shortly before their allocated time.

Hever Castle has played host to many important events and celebrations for over 600 years. In 1903 when William Waldorf Astor set about restoring Hever Castle to its former glory, he added the Astor Wing, to accommodate his family and guests, before creating a lake and the spectacular Italian Garden to house his impressive collection of ancient Greek and Roman statuary.
