Summer, summer, summertime! At Hever you can unwind – or explore to your heart’s content! Find out what’s on in July at Hever Castle.

With the promise of a warm summer on the horizon, get your diary out and pencil in our upcoming events for a summertime to remember.  

Firstly, we are so happy to announce that the Castle, Water Maze and playgrounds have all reopened. Hever Castle’s famous jousting contest will be returning in August and the battle will be as fierce as ever. Woodland Walk is also open so you can watch the butterflies weave in and out of the trees and take part in the Big Butterfly Count.

And when you’ve got a breather to think about yourself, why not treat yourself and a loved one to a delicious Afternoon Tea.

Are you planning a staycation this year? Discover Hever Castle’s luxury Bed & Breakfast and holiday cottage which are based just behind the Castle.

Plus, the Golf Course and dining facilities at The Waterside Bar, Restaurant & Terrace at Hever Castle Golf & Wellbeing are now available to both visitors and members.

The Knights of Royal England return to battle it out at the annual Hever Castle Jousting Tournament. Spectators will be treated to a thrilling show as the brave knights compete for points to find this season’s champion. Witness spectacular displays of action, stunts, falls and fights in an authentic arena complete with Royal Box.

Jousting is taking place on the following dates:

August: 8 & 9, 15 & 16; 21 – 23; 28 – 31

You’ll see hundreds of butterflies. 🦋
Woodland Walk is open for you and your little ones to explore. You’ll see plenty of butterflies, both real ones and lovingly handmade wooden butterflies. Get your cameras at the ready and watch the butterflies weave in and out of the trees; if you’re lucky they may come close enough for you to capture the beauty of their wings.
From Friday 17th July to Sunday 9th August you can also take part in the Big Butterfly Count. Simply download Butterfly Conservation’s handy butterfly ID chart or free app for iOS and Android to identify and record the butterflies you spot.
We are also running a competition on Instagram. For a chance to win a beautiful butterfly prize, share a photo of you or your loved ones with the homemade butterflies in Woodland Walk or ‘capture’ a shot of one of the many butterfly species that inhabit the woodland using the hashtag #butterflycapture.

Cars at the castle

Come along to Hever Castle’s Car Event ‘Cars at the Castle’ on the first weekend in August. A variety of cars will be on display from vintage to supercars.

Hever Castle & Gardens welcomed the recent updates to Government guidelines that allowed us to reopen the Castle, Water Maze and Playgrounds. It’s been wonderful seeing so many of you enjoy the attractions again.

Everyone (including annual members) will need to continue to book garden tickets online with a chosen arrival time to as we continue to control our visitor numbers.

Visitors can upgrade to a Castle ticket at the Castle Entrance. This is because we are limiting numbers in rooms and cannot guarantee Castle entry for everyone.

New guidelines and safety measures are in place for your safety.

Made in the Castle kitchen and served in the wooden panelled Tudor Suite Dining Room and Sitting Room overlooking the private lawns, you will have a truly special afternoon.

Hever Castle has been awarded the VisitEngland We’re Good to Go industry standard, confirming it is adhering to the Government’s COVID-19 re-opening guidance.

We’re Good to Go status has been awarded to Hever Castle & GardensHever Castle Venue & Accommodation and Hever Castle Golf & Wellbeing.

Measures in place at Hever Castle include pre-booked systems to restrict visitor numbers, one way systems to enable social distancing, additional cleaning of facilities, the use of Perspex shields, limiting capacities in rooms and play areas and a cashless payment system (excluding archery).

Videos have also been produced for the Hever Castle website and social media channels, taking visitors through the new measures in place.

Are you looking to book a staycation in the UK this year? Hever Castle has a luxury collection of 28 stunning ‘five star’ bedrooms in the Astor Wing and Anne Boleyn Wing of Hever Castle.

There is also a luxurious four bedroom ‘five star gold’ rated holiday cottage on the Estate which forms part of the Astor Wing. Golf and wellbeing

Hever Castle Golf Course is now open to all – members and their guests and visitors following its closure. Visitors can book online or call the Club Shop on 01732 700771 option 1.

We are also delighted to announce that The Waterside Bar, Restaurant & Terrace has now reopened, offering a limited menu and afternoon tea, as well as table service. Please take a moment to read our full statement here.
