What’s On in June 2023 at Hever Castle

June 21 2023 | What's on

Summer has just begun, it’s time to get out and explore!

This summer we’ve got something for everyone including a 1940s event, jousting and another car event.

And arguably the best time of year to see the gardens is upon us. Now is the best time to see the roses; but a riot of colour runs through the entire grounds, making it the perfect time of year to visit for garden lovers and wanderlusters alike.

Find out what’s on this summer at Hever Castle:

Thomas Cromwell’s Book of Hours now on display

In a discovery branded the most exciting Thomas Cromwell finding ‘in a generation’, historians at Hever Castle believe that Anne Boleyn, Catherine of Aragon, AND Thomas Cromwell all owned a copy of the same prayer book.

And the book belonging to Thomas Cromwell is now be on display at Hever Castle for visitors to see.

This book is thought to be the only object from any Tudor portrait to survive to this day and the first time the book has been lent from Trinity College since it was received on 10 August 1660.

The Festival Theatre at Hever Castle

The Festival Theatre has played at Hever Castle, each summer, without a break, for the last 40 Summers. This makes them the longest running open-air theatre in the South East (only beaten countywide by Regents Park and The Minack Theatre). It is definitely time to celebrate. The Festival Theatre is looking ahead to 40 brilliant events to mark their 40th year.

Surely there is an event for everyone from Horrible Histories Barmy Britain – New! to The Wizard of Oz, The Dolly Show to the Last Night of the Hever Proms or Nightingale the Ballet to The Best of Baroque with the Guildhall Strings.

Holiday cottage

Medley Court

Enjoy a staycation with the whole family this summer in Hever Castle’s self-catered Holiday Cottage.

Dating back to 1903, Medley Court is a luxurious four bedroom holiday cottage forming part of the Astor Wing.

Although Medley Court is now just over one hundred years old, its appearance is that of a Tudor house, the standard of decoration and comfort is outstanding and it still retains the warm, relaxed feel of a family home.

Tickets to the Castle & Gardens are included with every stay and do not need to be booked separately online.
