What’s On in February 2024 at Hever Castle

February 05 2024 | What's on

The Castle has woken up from its winter hibernation and signs of spring are appearing in the Gardens! Join us for an exciting year ahead and find out what’s on in February and later this spring.

Snowdrop Walk

Around 140,000 snowdrop bulbs have been planted in the gardens over the past few years including a mix of single and double snowdrops, interspersed with some unusual varieties in the Winter Garden such as the yellow tipped ‘Wendy’s Gold’, a giant Galanthus called ‘Colossus’ which at 9 inches is one of the tallest snowdrops you can find and Galanthus ‘Green Brush’ with its unusual green tipped flowers. A walk in the gardens at this time will provide a welcome boost to flagging winter spirits.

*We recommend that you wear suitable footwear such as Wellington boots as the ground may be boggy in places and check the website before travelling.

Eco Week – Half Term Event

This February half term we want to educate and inspire future generations to be more sustainable. We want to encourage our community to take part in this Eco Week event and to demonstrate their support for our planet.

During Eco Week, you can take part in a craft activity and have a go at origami in the Garden Exhibition. Yuki from Cultivate Life will be here on certain dates sharing tips and hacks on how to be more environmentally friendly. Plus, on certain dates you can join Ruth from Nature Makers for a creative workshop.

Dazzling Daffodils

Dazzling Daffodils

With 80,000 daffodil bulbs set to bloom across Hever Castle’s gardens this spring, feel uplifted by the cheerfulness of this exquisite bloom which symbolises new beginnings.

Wander through the gardens at your own leisurely pace and take in the beauty of the daffodils from 18 – 24 March 2024. Or you can join one of the free daily daffodil tours led by Johnny Walkers in the week and Hever Castle’s gardeners at the weekend.

Mother’s Day Weekend

Show your mum just how much you love her with a wonderful family day out to Hever Castle on Mother’s Day Weekend. The historic Castle and stunning gardens is the perfect place to say thank you and enjoy a family day out over the weekend of 9 and 10 March 2024.

For an extra special visit you can enjoy a delicious carvery (Saturday or Sunday) or a tempting afternoon tea (Sunday only – limited numbers available).

The Boleyn Apartment

When you enter the Castle you will notice that select rooms are closed and a new visitor route is in place. A suite of rooms on the first floor of the Castle are currently being re-interpreted with Tudor artefacts and furnishings and will be known as the Boleyn Apartment.

The apartment, which will be the only surviving suite of rooms in the world that the Boleyn family definitely occupied, is due to open on Wednesday 26th June. While the works are taking place you can pay £3 (first come first served, bookable on the day) to take part in a behind the scenes tour.

The Festival Theatre

2024 is going to be an extremely exciting year for the Festival Theatre at Hever Castle. Work on a new theatre is due to start in spring and in their new structure every seat will be undercover.

The roof section over the auditorium will be transparent and you will be able to enjoy the sun or stars. The stage area will be dark with more capacity for a new all singing and dancing lighting rig. The tent will no longer white on the outside and it will blend in with the beautiful gardens around it.

While the theatre is being built, they are running a series of fundraiser events. Click below for further information.
